Hitchcock - A Disappointed Review

Sorry for the long delay... ALOT of things have gone down.  Including getting my back fixed, being forced on a diet, talking with my first ex-girlfriend, Matt leaving for a couple of months to get a big paycheck... and ALOT of work.  I've also entered into an art contest and got a honorable mention.

But among all this, I've been watching movies.
Some good, some bad, and some classic.

Before I go into the main review, let me say a quick word about -

Troll Hunter
When I first saw this trailer, I thought it to be just a weird version of The Blair Witch Project... but actually it was pretty good.  I really enjoyed it in a badass kinda way.  I probably would have enjoyed it better without the dub though...

Sherlock
The modern version of Sherlock Holmes is good.  Real good.  Maybe some people were disappointed in Moriarty... but it is a little problem and still enjoyed the whole thing.  Definitely recommend.

I also recommend Sharpe's movies and Blackadder.... but more on those later.

And now... for Hitchcock.
For many years I have heard many thing about Hitchcock.  About his direction and story play is legendary and his movies are inspiring...
Years ago...
Now, they have not aged well.  Much to my disappointment.   I have not seen all of them, but I have seen the four big ones in his list.  And besides one... the other three have made me just... disappointed.

Which 3 disappointed me?  Let's start with...

The Birds
This definitely didn't age well.  The story makes barely no sense besides birds attack... for no apparent reason than they can.  The love story is weak and out of no where.  I can see trailers for today making that the main focus and then putting the attacking birds as a surprise... but it's still stale and slow.  Good effects though on some parts... but it's obvious now which ones are fake and the noise that they make... my god that is some horrible scratching of my eardrums... which works but still...
It wasn't cliche... so it has that.

Vertigo
Another slow one... and the title has very little in the plot.  It's mostly a mystery romance tragedy.  Just... argh!  Seemed mostly slow, boring and kinda sad (in a pathetic way).  I can see why it has a following... but really, I couldn't stand it.

And... this may surprise some -

Psycho
This... was seriously a huge disappointment.  And I don't mean from the twist or the killer or any of the stuff known about it... just that the story is horrible.  And slow...
This is when I realized it didn't age well.  Even seeing the new version (which is a shot for shot remake) made me see how slow and boring it was.  The killer part (no spoiling for the new ones) is really fun and made me jump once at how quick and simple it was... but the rest... like the cleaning up, the money plot, and the intro... just made me shake my head.

I remember as a kid seeing at Universal Studios a special on Hitchcock.  It was fun and very cool to watch... but that was many years ago and just... disappointed in how little it made me feel.  Granted Psycho did have it's moments... but nothing that I didn't need to make it a great movie.
