So before I write about RWBY, let me tell you about my history with animation.
When others talk about how they got into anime, they usually say that their first show was either Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, or some VHS hand-me down of Akira or other 80's anime that made it the USA and had become so heavily edited that it was only a shadow of it's former self.
My first anime was Shadow Skill the movie.
Don't know what that is? Let me just show you the first part -
So if you couldn't understand that, it was a movie about a brother and sister who literally fought each other to almost death while trying to understand the desire and urge to become a warrior.
And it was FUCKING AWESOME!
Granted, I can't listen to it now in it's English dub without rolling my eyes or wincing, but it was still life changing to me. It showed the strength of character that I admired in females and when they reveal what the Shadow skill really is... that was just a punch to my gut through the heart. It hit me hard. And I just had to admire any woman with a strong will like that.
So, long story short, I have always had a thing with girls kicking ass.
And thus, we come to RWBY... well, almost.
Last year, I got into Red vs. Blue. I found the comedy smart and hilariously crazy at the same time, with some action put in to keep me interested. In fact, it was one episode that made me loose my mind on how good this series was becoming -
As I was watching that series, I started to look at another series that Rooster Teeth was developing called RWBY and got curious.
All it took was one trailer to make that curiosity into my full attention.
You had me at the "Scythe Reveal".
Red, White, Black, and Yellow. The story revolves around a monster hunter team at a school that teaches how to hunt. Ruby, a 15 year old prodigy scythe user, is accepted into the school early after she stops a magic store robbery and is then put into a team of Yang (her blonde hair anger powered party girl sister), Blake (the silent spoken bookworm ninja with a hidden past), and Weiss (a white haired stuck up princess of a magic corporation).
Actually that sounds like another anime about girls getting together to fight evil... hmm.
Anyway, is it any good? I say yes.
As I said in the beginning, I am kinda biased on things that interest me. Girls kicking ass? Check. Humor? Check. Weapons that make me drool with joy? Check, check!
But I also think that this is well written. It's both a classic take on Fairy Tale mythology, and a nice story about making friends and learning to grow up and stand for something worthwhile.
Oh, and I think the fighting is amazing.
Yeah... really amazing. With a scythe sniper rifle, rapier
revolver, shotgun katana, nunchuck bo-staff shotgun, exploding
gauntlets, and grenade warhammer.
If you want to check it out, it's free on Rooster Teeth's site.
But I fully support it and can't wait for the second season to start.
Next time, will be the finishing chapter of Feeding the Beast. I got prints done and should be on their way soon. Day 2 of my vacation starting now.
Later~
Will

I've seen posts about this on tumblr and now that I've seen what it's about, I'm definitely going to check it out! Thanks for the links and everything!
